James Bond 23 finally receives official title Skyfall and synopsis with more cast details
With the 23rd Bond film in the storied franchise coming together and production beginning, the film finally has an official title: Skyfall (2012). It will bring back Daniel Craig as James Bond facing off against Javier Bardem in the villainous role. They’ll be accompanied by Judi Dench (as M once again), Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Helen McCrory, Naomie Harris (as field Agent “Eve” and not Moneypenny), Berenice Marlohe, and Ben Whishaw. With awards-darling director Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Jardhead) at the helm and renowned screenwriter John Logan’s (Gladiator, The Last Samurai) involvement, this new James Bond should be an interesting new take on the series, and it is definitely in the top ranks of my Most Anticipated Films.
The official synopsis is as follows:
Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.
It will be a stand-alone story, meaning the Quantum story from the past two films (Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace) will not be included in this next installment. As for the title choice, it reportedly has “emotional context which will be revealed in the film.”
Below you can find the full, unedited video (about 29 minutes long) of the official Skyfall press conference that included a panel of key actors, director Mendes, and some of the franchise’s producers.
